Amman

Blue skies, 60 degrees, cool breeze. A lovely day to see the city. Starting at the ruins of Hercules Temple. His marble statue was 36 feet high, although we only saw portions of him. Looting antiquities for building material was quite common and marble was cherished.

The adjacent museum had pottery burial pieces from the Neolithic (8,000 BC) up through Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman and Islamic eras. Great view of the amphitheater from the hilltop.

Lunch of pita, falafel, humus and fuul. Dinner at guides home tonight.
